Amy Moerschbaecher, Director of Medical Ancillaries for Centregra Health Systems spoke to the McHenry Rotary Club about a new cutting-edge program to extend medical care to the home.  The effort is to reduce the incidents of illness, particularly relapses, among the population by providing devices in the home that monitor vital health markers such as blood pressure, weight, glucose levels, oxygen levels, and other important health information.  Participants will be given measuring devices to take home that will communicate through telephone and internet means the day to day progress of these measurements.  Ms. Moerschbaecher says each device will run about $2,000 to $3,000, and the Centrega Foundation is seeking contributions to help establish this program in our area.   [Photograph:  Amy demonstrates some of the electronic devices that help communicate medical measurements.]
