McHenry Area Rotary Bands, Brews & BBQ 2024

Bands Brews & BBQ is McHenry Area Rotary's premier fundraising event of the year. 100% of the event's proceeds are donated to a variety of local, regional, national, and international organizations who help those in their greatest time of need.

This event has contributed over $330,000 to student leadership, vocational and college advanced placement programs, meals for the hungry, services for the homeless, humanitarian projects, and more. Your attendance at Bands Brews & BBQ ensures resources will be available for those in need, from local food banks to relief efforts around the globe.

On June 27th a group of McHenry Area Rotary members and guests gathered in Lake Geneva to celebrate Diana Mark's installation as president. Congratulations, Diana, and thank you for stepping up. This is her second time serving in this role. She takes over for outgoing president Don Tonyan, just as she did more than a decade ago — about the last time the 17-year cicadas were here, actually! We thank Don for his hard work during his term as well, setting a great example as a Person of Action!

McHenry Area Rotary promotes and coordinates toy delivery to families in need during the Christmas season throughout McHenry County.

Many families in McHenry County are desperately struggling due to unexpected job loss, death of a wage earner, divorce or abandonment, illness, disability or other crises. Children in these families might not otherwise experience the joy of a gift to unwrap on Christmas. The McHenry Area Rotary partners with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program to help collect, sort, wrap, and distribute toys across McHenry County. Each year we help around 2000 kids!

What is Slack?

Slack is a messaging app for business that connects people to the information they need. By bringing people together to work as one unified team, Slack transforms the way organizations communicate.

The McHenry Area Rotary has created a Slack workspace so that we can communicate with each other quickly and easily. We have channels dedicated to Rotary Business, the Bands Brews & BBQ event, the Secret Santa service project, and of course a general chat for building camaraderie with one another!

You can access Slack on a desktop/laptop computer application, through a webbrowser, and/or on smartphone/tablet. It's a flexible platform that is pretty straightforward and will only get better as we get more members using it. If you haven't already, join us today! If you don't have an invite and need one, please send David Liss a message and he'll get you set up. Chat with you on Slack!
