Lucy Tonyan, a long-time resident of McHenry, recently an Art Teacher at Montini Catholic School for 18 years, talked to the McHenry Rotary Club about the importance of art for children and adults.  She recently resigned from her teaching position to spend full time with her art school studio she began in downtown McHenry.  She believes that art can be applied to many different disciplines such as geography, reading, writing, and history.  Lucy mentioned the "Art Parties" at her studio every Friday and Saturday night.  She also explained a new medium, Chalk Paint, which can be used to decorate furniture, walls, and paint effects.  Lucy is shown in the photo attached to the right of McHenry Rotarian, Donna Schaefer.
