On Thursday March 2 the McHenry Area Rotary had two special guests from the McHenry Police Department: Jason Sterwerf and Oakley!

Jason is the Social Service Coordinator for the McHenry PD. According to Jason, "this position is charged with creating improved law enforcement responses to mental health and substance use disorders, along with other community needs. This is a newly created position, and I am tasked with building the program from the ground up and making sure our community has appropriate responses to support our officers and community members" Jason is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and is equipped to help our police department improve their ability to respond to the social needs of our community.

Jason also has the responsibility of being the handler for the McHenry Police Department's other new addition, Oakley the therapy dog. Oakley is an 8 month old golden retriever that has been (and continues to be) trained to help respond to the needs of our community. It's hard to match the smiles that a puppy can provide and after meeting Oakley, the McHenry Area Rotary can assure you that Oakley is a very good boy that brought big smiles to our meeting! The McHenry community is luck to have both Jason and Oakley!

Thank you Jason and Oakley for joining us, along with all our members and guests that decided to come out and enjoy lunch with our club.

If you would like to join us for a meeting or event, please let us know!
