At the regular Noon meeting of the Rotary Club of McHenry on September 27, 2017, Rudy Horist (Deputy Chief of Administration) of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District presented McHenry Township’s siren emergency warming system which now includes 13 sirens, including the three new McHenry Township Emergency Warning Sirens.  The locations and range of the sirens can be found by clicking here and the recent addition of new sirens is discussed in the McHenry Township Spring 2017 Newsletter, which is available by clicking here

The McHenry Township Emergency Warning Sirens were not designed to be a warning device for people inside their homes.  It was designed to warn people who are outside of their homes, away from radios or televisions, which may be broadcasting warnings. When you hear a siren – seek shelter!  The siren indicates approaching severe storms capable of producing hazardous conditions.
