Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

Ron Bykowski, Chairman of the Rotary Club Foundation, headed the annual meeting of the Rotary Club of McHenry Charitable Foundation, Inc.  His report (and that of other officers of the Foundation) reported excellent asset growth and return on investments, as well as very high levels of local grants and scholarships designed to benefit the greater McHenry area.

The Rotary Club of McHenry and such Club’s Members formed the Rotary Club of McHenry Charitable Foundation, Inc. (an Illinois not for profit corporation which is also a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code) to fund ongoing charitable/service operations on a tax exempt basis and to ensure continued sustainability of the Club’s charitable/service operations.  The Club and its Charitable Foundation develop, improve and maintain the cultural, recreational, economic, educational and social welfare of people in the greater McHenry area (and throughout the world).

The Foundation manages funding from the Club as well as various donor-directed endowments.  The Foundation also receives contributions from the public and encourages larger gifts that are ordinarily made by way of estate planning strategies. These include, but are not limited to, cash donations; securities which have appreciated in value such that donation to the Club Foundation will give rise to tax advantages for the donor; life insurance policies which name the Rotary Club of McHenry Charitable Foundation Inc. as a beneficiary; naming the Club Foundation as beneficiary of the donor's retirement account(s); and so on.  Any and all such gifts may be named to give honor or recognition to a special person, donor, organization, or business entity in perpetuity.  The Foundation’s largest fundraiser each year is the Blues, Brews and Barbecue, which is scheduled for Petersen Park on August 18, 19, and 20, 2017.
