The McHenry Rotary Club welcomed David D. Lester, a boat enthusiast of the Fox River Chain O’Lakes, who gave an informative media presentation on the history of boating on this popular north Illinois waterway.  Using power point slides, maps, and diagrams, the local historian took the club members on a chronological tour of boating beginning with the earliest settlements in 1844.  He noted that today the lakes are visited by nearly 18,000 boats a year.  Lester made his presentation at the regular weekly Thursday meeting of the club at 12 noon at the McHenry Country Club.
