Brian Shahinian and David Dauphin bring an informative program on the work of the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) to the February 14th Club Meeting.

Brian Shahinian, Executive Director, and David Dauphin, Manager of Special Olympics, for the  Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) presented the program for the McHenry Rotary Club February 14th.  This community resource which provides nearly a thousand programs to twice as many persons, seeks to enrich the lives of people with disabilities through meaningful recreation experiences.  Brian presented a brief overview of the entire organization and its mission and David spoke of the Special Olympics focus of NISRA.  Rotarians especially enjoyed the 8 minute video of children and adults relating their experiences with the many activities and programs.  They also spoke of a new program, NISRA Special Olympic Sponsors, which helps raised funds for needed equipment for their activities.  This community resource is based at 285 Memorial Drive, Crystal Lake, and may be contacted at (815) 459-0737.

There was also a surprise Valentine's Day visit from a local Barbershop Quartet.  Check the Web Photo Album for the photograph of the group and the couples honored by their music.
