About Us
Rotary International is a world-wide service organization made up from individuals who believe in the core ideal of Service Above Self. Rotary is comprised of 1.2 million members, often referred to as “Rotarians” who are members of 35,000+ individual clubs in over 200 countries. Even though each of those clubs runs its own operations independently, the unifying vision statement sums up what it means to be a Rotarian.

Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change —

across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Each Rotary year, spanning from July 1st through June 30th, there is a new Rotary theme which is chosen by the President of Rotary International.

The 2023-2024 Rotary International President, Gordon R. McInally chose the theme "Create Hope in the World." He explained that the goal is to restore hope to help the world heal from destructive conflicts and to help achieve lasting change. He emphasized the need for peace and continuity, including work to empower women and work towards diversity, equity, and inclusion, while not neglecting our mission to end polio.

Who is the McHenry Area Rotary?

The McHenry Area Rotary is our local club; community members from the McHenry Area, serving others in the McHenry Area!

You may have heard of the McHenry Rotary or the McHenry Sunrise Rotary over the years, so who is the McHenry Area Rotary? The McHenry Area Rotary was formed in July of 2020 as an equal merger of both previously mentioned Rotary Clubs in McHenry. We decided to unite under one banner because we both serve similar causes and work together frequently within the same area, so we might as well combine forces to do more good than ever before! We retain the proud history of both of our previous clubs, but we’re also extremely excited about our future. We acknowledge that out club is made up of the combination of all our individual members, new and old, and since our membership continues to evolve so does our club.

Currently we are a group of just over 20 members that live, work, and love the McHenry area. We have members of various ages, experience levels, and places in the journey of life. We embrace that diversity and would love to see it expand with more people of action who want to give back. Our club truly is the sum of our members and we are what our members want to do and support, so if you would like to join us you can and will help shape the next chapter of Rotary!

If you have ever had the itch to give back, be part of something bigger, and make friendships along the way then you should get in contact with us!
